More new books

I got a couple of books from amazon.com today.

200 Crochet blocks for blankets, throws, and afghans 200 Crochet blocks for blankets, throws, and afghans, Jan Eaton

This one has some really nice squares to crochet, but some of the colors she's chosen leave a lot to be desired. There are even some mix and match afghans and pillowcases already laid out for you, but some of them leave a little to be desired as well. But then, it wasn't for the color schemes that I bought the book but for the patterns. I've already got visions of afghans swimming in my head.

The Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet StitchesThe Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet Stitches, Readers' Digest

Not anywhere near the ultimate sourcebook, at least as far as the knitting stitches go, but it does run a close 3rd or 4th. I can't say how comprehensive it is on the crochet stitches because this is the first book I've ever bought that showed anything other than straight single, double, etc. stitches. It is a nice, handy reference for the price.

Lace & Bobbles afghan

I actually crocheted a bit on the afghan last Thursday. I came home from work frozen solid so it seemed like the thing to do to work on it. I finished round 69 and almost finished round 70 before I warmed up. I took a couple of close-ups of it to show off the stitches, but we all know what a wonderful photographer I am. ;D

Butterfly fairy update

I was a good girl and worked on the fairy diligently all weekend. For comparison's sake, this is last week's progress . . .

Scarf update

I worked on the scarf for a couple of hours last Monday night and then not again all week long. I think I'm suffering from knitting burnout. But that's OK. The scarf is still growing albeit slowly. It is now just a bit longer than I am tall. No pictures this week 'cause I just didn't feel like it.

I've finally found it!

Two years ago before I moved into the house, I was working on an afghan. When I moved, it disappeared. I was sitting watching Prime Suspect on BBC America and knitting on the scarf, and it just popped into my head where the afghan was stashed. Sure enough, there it was.

This is the Lace and Bobbles afghan from Leisure Arts Leaflet 2159, Scrap Yarn Afghans Book Two. I'm working it very tight in greens and cream. It was meant to be an afghan for a child, but the child is now grown so it will just have to be a lap rug. As soon as I get done with the scarf, I think I'll go back to finish this.

I did the good girl/bad girl thing again

Although this week I actually managed to knit a couple of hours on Monday night on the scarf. It's now very nearly as tall as I am. This week's WIP photo is of it in my work box again since there wasn't anyone here to help me model it.

And I didn't quite spend as much time as I normally would have stitching on the butterfly fairy. I got side tracked by a book I started reading Saturday night and then had to spend all day Sunday reading to finish. The book is Sunshine by Robin McKinley.

Anyway, for comparison's sake, here is a progress photo from last week . . .

I was a bad girl

Or maybe I was a good one. I guess it depends entirely on your point of view.

I did not knit one stitch on the scarf this week. Instead, I read and caught up on DVD watching and did logic problems.

I did, however, stitch on the butterfly fairy. Got another nice chunk of stitching done. I don't know if I'll work on it today or not, or if I'm going to keep reading and catching up on my DVD watching.

UPDATE: I decided to stitch a bit more on the fairy. Here's what it looked like after today's stitching.
