I made these socks for the daughter of the co-worker I gave these socks to. I finished the socks on Friday.

The socks were made of fingering weight superwash Merino wool using 48 stitches with the pattern consisting of 12 stitches. The pattern can be modified for larger sizes by simply adding an extra stitch to the moss pattern and an extra stitch to the stockinette pattern.

Irish Moss Socks

These are a Christmas gift for the Prodigal Son's girlfriend. Simple socks using an Irish Moss stitch.





Pattern:

Round 1: *k1, p1*; repeat to end
Round 2: *p1, k1*; repeat to end
Round 3: *p1, k1*; repeat to end
Round 4: *k1, p1*; repeat to end

Happy feet

The co-worker I gave the last pair of socks to snapped a shot of her happy feet wearing the socks. I'm seriously thinking of making another pair of socks for her so she and her daughter don't have to fight over the one pair.

Sock envy

The co-worker reported this morning she was able to wear her warm wooly socks for about an hour before her daughter noticed them and immediately took possession of them.

It's nice to know my socks are so well loved.

Crusoe from knitty.com

I finished another pair of socks today. This pair was intended for me but the pattern wound up being so much tighter than I expected that the socks are actually too tight for my comfort. The pattern is Cursoe from knitty.com and they have found a good home with a co-worker who very graciously volunteered to take the socks off my hands.




The co-worker can't wait to get the socks home. The weatherman predicted some really cold overnight temperatures and she's looking forward to the socks keeping her feet nice and toasty.

Socks for me

Another no name pattern. This one is open with texture. You know me, I like texture.

k1b = knit in back leg instead of front leg

Watch out for the snakes!

At last, the snake scale socks from Six Sox Knitalong are done. Don't tell her, but they are for the Best Friend for Christmas along with the scarf. I hope they fit.

The difference between day and night

I decided to take a break from knitting to snap a shot of the socks I'm working on. Out of curiosity, I took one picture with the "Auto" flash . . .

. . . The flash makes the difference between blue and purple which is the color the socks are.

These socks are based on a pattern being worked up on the Six Sox Knitalong group on Yahoo!

Only the second pair I've made this year

I got bored with being bored so I finished the red, purple, and blue socks for the Prodigal Son. He isn't home at the moment otherwise I'd have him modeling them instead of having them laid out on the table. As always, the photos do not do the color justice. The colors are quite delicious.

At long last socks

Sort of. One is done and one is still on the needles, but I'm knitting the first pair, for the Prodigal Son of course, using the superwash merino. This is just a boring, standard sock pattern knit in stockinette stitch but the color is scrumptious, a very nice blend of reds, purples, and just a hint of blues. As you can see, Horus was supervising this photography session as well.

First in '06

I've finished the first pair of socks for '06. They are for the Prodigal's girlfriend.





Another pattern without a name. I wanted something open for this pair.

Three guys and some socks

The commissioned pair worn by the commissioner, the Prodigal in his orange socks, and the gifted pair worn by the giftee.

The last pair of socks is done

The last pair for 2005, that is. I just finished them moments ago. They will be for the Prodigal's friend C. I'll give them to him later tonight when the Prodigal gets home from work. They are a belated Christmas present.




The pattern I used, which is not at all obvious in the photos, doesn't have a name since I didn't get it from any of the pattern books I have. It is quite simple and very texture-y.

A tisket, a tasket

The commission socks are done. I just finished them. I used a woven stitch pattern on them. I love the colors. I almost hate having to give them away.

The 5th pair of socks is done. This makes the fourth pair for the Prodigal. I really wish I could get better pictures. Mine just don't do the colors or the pattern justice.

I swallowed half a herringbone

No, not me, silly. The sock.

Not that you can tell from the picture. I tried different angles, different backgrounds, zooming in and out, but I just cannot capture what this pattern really looks like. Technically, I suppose, it's half a horizontal herringbone and it is a much tighter pattern than any of the others I've done so far. I wish I could have gotten a more true to life picture.

No. Five is alive!

Sock pair number five was begun last night and two rows were added today before I snapped this picture. I didn't work on them during lunch 'cause I went out with the boss and two other co-workers. Had Chinese. It was loverly.

You cannot see the pattern in the picture so I'm going to wait to list it until tomorrow when there will be more sock and I can get a better picture (inasmuch as I ever get good pictures.)
